"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.
You must do the thing which you think you cannot do." -Eleanor Roosevelt

steer-your-ship1steer-your-shipIf you were to really sit down and take note of your dreams or goals you’d probably come up with some pretty enlightening truths about yourself.  You may find yourself mentioning a few dreams you had as a child and continue to carry with you.  You may find that several mentions were ideas you came up with suddenly while you were in deep thought about it and wonder to yourself, “where in the world did that come from?”

And then there may be a couple on the list that you WANT but deep down don’t believe you could actually achieve them. Like a real WHOPPER of a goal that you may never admit to,  not even with your closest friend from grade school.  Like maybe being a finalist in a figure skating competition when everyone knows you are about as clumsy as a drunk at a Frat party.

Whatever the goals and however you came to arrive with the  “list” there is something very important to prepare before chipping away at the task at hand.  Here it goes:

“NAME THE SIX PEOPLE YOU SPEND THE MOST TIME WITH”

Now, it appears you have another list to conquer.  Yet another list to tackle before you can start to achieve your goals.  Your dreams and your goals are absolutely yours and no one can take those away from you.  But if your dreams are the light house and you are the captain you had better take note of the passengers on your ship.

  • Are they preventing you from steering?
  • Are they slowing you down by misuse of the anchors?
  • Are they jumping board and expecting you to stop and rescue them?

This is your ship and your lighthouseNOT THEIR’S.  One last thing…recognize a PIRATE and don’t let them on the boat…be prepared to fight…NOT FLIGHT.  These are your dreams we’re talking about.

By they way, your kids should all equal as “one” person in the SIX.  The most important  aspect to remember about them is …they are just as important as the lighthouse.  Consider them “precious cargo.”
