Let me put this into perspective for you once again.  You need to burn 3500 more calories than you take in to lose one pound of body fat.  Okay with that being said lets break it down so that the physiological process of losing weight can be achieved.  There are as many ways to do this than are stars in the sky.  However, there really is no getting around the fact that you absolutely have to burn 3500 more calories than you take in to lose ONE pound of body fat.  You will hear me say this over and over to my clients.  It is very common to find people forgetting this fact and human nature to get emotionally wrapped up in the idea that a quick fix or fad diet will elimate this painful truth.

I say, lets break it down so that it can resemble an acquired achievement.  Putting things into perspective on a constant basis will train your brain to finally accept it and than eventually your habits will change.  Call it a light bulb moment or an a-ha moment.  It is the moment that will result in perseverance and finally RESULTS.

So, with no pun intended we will break down that number of 3500 into smaller bite sized pieces that will help you change your habits.  If we divide the  number 3500 into 7 we get 500.  So, seven days a week we need to burn 500 more calories than we take in.. to lose 1 pound a week.   Now, usually people will want to lose weight faster than that.  They want to lose 2 to 5 pounds a week.  That again is human nature.  So, lets put that into perspective.  Yes, you can physicologically lose 2 to 5 pounds a week but you will need to burn 1000 calories a day more than you take in to lose 2 pounds a week.  And of course you will then need to burn 2500 more calories a day more than you take in to lose 5 pounds a week.  I say it absolutely can be done and be done safely.  But you better be prepared to start movin!  And you best be prepared to put your body in a state of calorie deficit.

The habit of living this way can be done and making it a life long way of thinking can be done as well.  I myself have never been gifted with the mind of a  mathmetician  but I understand simple numbers and that they don’t lie.  I am not one that was blessed with a dislike for good food either.   We are only as strong as our weakest link.  Mine is chocolate.   Chocolate for instance is absolutely my biggest weakness and I put aside my self control and chocolate will win the battle almost every time it presents itself as a temptation.  However, I have found that playing the numbers game in my head will help me overcome tempation of eating too much of it.  Chocolate is loaded with calories and cause me to go over the limit while I am in the weightloss process….unless I allow myself a bite or two and calculate the numbers in my head.  While eating the chocolate I exchange it for a workout….to even the score…or for a better way of explaining it working it off and putting my body back into the calorie deficit mode.  Which is where it has to be in order to lose weight.  Remember what I say and repeat it often.  It takes 3500 MORE calories to burn 1 pound of fat.

Say it over and over and then live it.  It will become a habit and finally you will reach your weight loss goal.  Iwill speak more of this within the Weight Loss section of Fearless Ambition Magazine and explain ways of doing this yourself.  A system will be defined within the Weight Loss section that is found under the Health tab.

I look forward to working with you to help achieve your weight loss goals with inspirational stories, weight loss facts, ideas that work, one on one accountability if needed,  and testimonials from my clients.

  • Great post!!! I love how you broke down the calories into a day over a week. The bigger number tends to hang me up. I'll tell you what, dark chocolate is my weakness. One of the things I've learned to do with it though is work hard at limiting myself to a small treat of it in the morning and evening. Nothing big. Just enough to savor. Add with regular exercise and food I prepare myself and losing weight does happen.
