Elizabeth Gilbert describes FEAR and its control over Creativity.

Elizabeth Gilbert the author of the bestseller Eat Pray Love explains creativity on a level we may understand.  Fear causes our very natural creative spirits to diminish and become smaller than they could be.  Creativity and entrepreneurship are so tightly connected and related and share a very similar path.  It takes a mindset and much nurturing.    Like Elizabeth says here in this TED Talks speech…”do your dance/job  and do not be afraid….  “Be stubborn and keep showing up.

Creativity can be a scary place…at least that is what most people would have you think.  My advice is, don’t listen to them.  I agree with Elizabeth.

Tony Robbins interview with Frank Kern and John Reese

Warning: This is video is 38 minutes long. However, it could be the most rewarding, empowering, life-changing 38 minutes of your life. Within this interview Tony Robbins mentions that lives change in moments…not over time. I know that the most significant and transforming changes in my life occurred in just that amount of time. One moment. It can happen like the speed of light.
The moment that everything changes is the moment that YOU make a change or shift in your thinking and come to realize your true potential. That is the mission of Fearless Ambition Magazine.
Enjoy!

The MOVIE in your head.

During  my years of selling I finally came to the conclusion that it was the voices in my head that would lead to the end result being successful or not.  The struggle was within myself, it wasn’t the client or the product I was selling.  It was 100% me.  In fact,  I came to this conclusion when I worked for the underdog of all products

I realized that even though our product was not as good as the others out there, I was still able to convince my clients that I had a better deal for them most of the time.  I noticed that I usually always sold more and outsold my competition for only one reason.  That reason was because I could convince myself that what I was selling was the BEST.  It was the voices in my head that led me to project a passion about what I was selling.  I was passionate about it and I conveyed that message thoroughly with my confidence.  Confidence sells and people can see through a faker.  I was able to believe what I was saying and therefore never have to FAKE the sales pitch.

Self talk is so important and so transparent to others.  Our self talk can be our worst enemy.  When we imagine the worst scenario before arriving on a sales call….our self talk is self defeating and it leads to our imaginations actually giving us a visual “expectation.”  It looks like a bad movie and we then show the movie to the potential client.  They see it in the way we carry ourselves, our tone of voice, and even our gaze.

If we were to imagine before the appointment the end result leading to a final win-win…we would find it almost ALWAYS leads to REALITY.

Try it…imagine it going exactly the way you WANT.  The customer extending their hand and thanking you for your service.  Now imagine how that feels.  If you can imagine how it feels you can project it in your voice and actions and finally ……carrying it out!

If you are struggling in sales, you better change the movie going on in your head….and start with the self talk!

5 Natural Herbs for Anxiety

If you’ve been trying to stop your overwhelming anxiety for any length of time, you’re probably already familiar with some of the more common strategies. Breathing techniques, mental exercises and finding physical outlets for stress are just a few. Granted, these tactics work pretty well, if you want to speed up the process, the following 5 natural herbs for anxiety are sure to do the trick.

I have to admit, prior to trying out the herbs listed below, I was pretty skeptical of the results. I’ve never considered myself the holistic, hippie type. I had some reluctance going the route of natural herbs to deal with my anxiety.

What finally convinced me was a simple yet effective remedy to nighttime panic that yielded amazing results.

I used to have a LOT of trouble getting to sleep at night. My mind would toss and turn and it seemed impossible to get to bed with the unstoppable, anxious thoughts rolling around in my head. A good friend told me to try Sleepytime tea with Valerian root by Celestial Seasons.

I figured I’d give it a shot. I picked up a box of the tea at my local supermarket and quickly discovered drinking it before bed was a great way to lull my body into a calm state.

The Valerian root in the tea decreased my anxiety like nothing I had ever found.

I decided to do a little research about the herb and found out that it has mild tranquilizing properties. Obviously it’s not the kind of thing you should ingest before operating heavy machinery or driving, but valerian root proved to be an awesome, gentle solution for my nighttime anxiety. It led me to do some more research.

I wasn’t looking for something that acted like a heavy drug; quite the contrary. I was looking to find natural supplements that I could weave into my diet to give me a nice, gentle way take the edge off daily stress.

After some trial and error, I came up with the 5 effective herbs for anxiety listed below. As always, talk to your doctor before using any of these herbs on a regular basis.

Passion Flower
Passion Flower acts as a non-drowsy, natural sedative that relieves intermittent nervousness, anxiety and panic attacks. It’s actually the vine of the passion flower that holds the soothing effects.

Rather than knock you out or make you sleepy, passion flower will make you feel emotionally balanced. It won’t give you a hyper, happy or excited feeling. Instead, passion flower will restrain your emotions from its range of extremes. If you have exaggerated emotions throughout the day (you go from very happy to very angry or sad), you may find passion flower to be a nice supplement.

St. Johns Wort
Extracts of this popular herb exert an antidepressant effect by inhibiting the reuptake of the neurotransmitters serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Dosage may vary. The one I took had a recommended serving of three grams of powder per day, but you really need to take it for weeks before results are felt. That said, if you just buy the supplement pills at your health store, this herb becomes a convenient way to ward off the blues.

Ginkgo Biloba
Used to improve circulation to the brain, Ginkgo Biloba elevates mood and is often used as a natural antidepressant. Side effects are minimal, but talk to your doctor if you decide to go this route. Ginkgo Biloba has been linked with bleeding disorders so you should do your homework before giving it a try.

Meadow Sweet
Meadow Sweet relieves headaches related to anxiety and stress. You can drink meadowsweet tea or extract as a convenient dietary supplement.

I have just a couple of warnings for you here. People with sensitivity to aspirin should avoid the use of meadow Sweet. Keep in mind, it should never be used to lower headaches or fevers in children as it may possibly lead to Reye’s syndrome.

Kava Kava
This is one of the most popular choices for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. It is a powerful herb from the South Seas. Used as an alternative to Valium, research studies have found it reduces anxiety equivalently. The advantage is that there are no addictive side effects with the Kava Kava.

Bear in mind, Kava Kava WILL knock you out. It acts as a sedative so don’t take it if you need to stay alert for any duration of time. This is a more powerful alternative if Valerian root isn’t getting rid of your nocturnal anxiety effectively enough.

Talk to you doctor and see if they advocate adding any of these natural herbs to your diet. I’ve tried the ones mentioned above. Your own results will vary but for myself, I found Valerian Root and St. Johns Wort to be the most beneficial for my specific anxiety traits.

Remember, adding these supplements to your daily routine won’t do a thing if you’re not engaging in the RIGHT anxiety fighting tactics. Knowing strategies that effectively reduce panic, stress and anxiety is the only way to get over your debilitating condition.

Does everyone have anxiety attacks? The answer is hard to give. Everyone gets anxious or panics at some point but not everyone would have what would officially be classified as a panic attack. There is a special rating system called the DSM-IV and if you have 4 or more of these symptoms during an episode then you are classed as having a panic or anxiety attack.

  • A pounding heart
  • sweating
  • shaking
  • feeling lack of breath available
  • feel like you are choking
  • discomfort in the chest or stomach
  • nausea
  • feeling dizzy
  • feeling like reality is shifting
  • fear that you are losing control or that you are going crazy
  • the fear of death is close
  • numbness
  • going really hot or cold for short periods

Tally them up, do you have 4 or more? If you cannot remember then use this list next time you have an episode and look out for what happens to your physical body. Then you will be able to answer the question “Does everyone have anxiety attacks?”.

I will be totally honest with you here. If you have anxiety or panic attacks, it does not only affect you, it affects all of the people around you including your kids. They pick up your habits. The good news is that you have the power to change right now if you want too. Don’t you owe it to those around you to put your best foot forwards each day?

Anxiety and panic attacks keep you controlled by fear, it literally takes over your life and your actions. Taking action today towards taking back control of your life will help you in all areas and you can become fearless in a short space of time.

How differently would people look at you if you got over your anxiety attacks completely? Imagine feeling the eyes in the back of your head as they would see you walking down the street and think to themselves “What has changed about them? They seem so peaceful, I could do with what they have”.

Having total peace of mind is a gift that anyone owes to themselves don’t you agree?

Causes of Anxiety Attacks – Learn How to Take Immediate Preventive Action

When investigating the causes of anxiety attacks, one of the first symptoms that you should look for is fear. To be more specific, you should look for unprovoked fear. This fear begins without any rhyme or reason and it takes control over your mind and your body before you can stop it. Your body will soon react to fear.

Your nervous system recognizes the presence of fear and releases adrenalin into your body. Adrenalin is a hormone that is very useful in certain circumstances. However, in this situation, you will start seeing symptoms offer an anxiety attack as a result of the release. Your heart beats increase very rapidly and you can feel it to thudding in your rib cage.

Third Person

Next is a feeling of light headedness. You feel dizzy and draw back into your consciousness and view everything from the third person point of view. You feel as if you are here but you are very far away from here. The last reaction is the intensely strong thought that death is just a minute away. The last symptom is most common and natural to all panic attacks. You feel vulnerable and fear death caused due to the attack.

You Can Take Control

If you consider the symptoms, you will conclude that you have suffered a major anxiety attack. However, the fact is that you can control what you feel and how you react as soon as the symptoms of the anxiety attack begin to show. That is the golden hour where you can take immediate preventive action.

The Impact

Anxiety attacks make you lose touch with reality. You become unconscious of what is going on around you. Hence, they have a severe impact on your thought process. The moment you understand that these symptoms are beginning to occur, take action immediately. Just because the same can be controlled does not mean you should wait till the very last minute. Your rapid heartbeats may make you fear that you are on the verge of a heart attack. Your body and mind will feed on the stress unless you control the fear. The moment such symptoms occur, drop everything and take deep breaths.

This is a useful technique you can perform without any medical attention. Knowing what are the causes of anxiety attacks, knowing what is going on in your body and mind is the key to treating anxiety attacks.

Can You Unmask Your Fears?

mask1The dark, heights, spiders, crowds, public speaking and even snakes can be a few of the things people would say they are afraid of.

What are your fears?

Are you afraid of even finding out or facing those fears?

Over time I have found that a big part of what people are in need of help with is working through their fears. The funny thing about fear is it can be masked in many different packages.  Anger, sarcasm, excessive humor, addictions both chemical and emotional, are some of the outer wrappings used to cover up fears.

The first thing we have to realize is that all of us have fears. What is fear, where does fear come from? I over my years of looking at my own and working with others have developed my own opinion.

I believe that fear comes from one of the following areas:

  • Lack of information – In the absence of knowledge we tend to assume the worst
  • Information stored in the subconscious – Things from our past that shape the way we see stuff today, i.e. A traumatic event from our child hood that burned an impression in our subconscious
  • Feelings of inadequacy and rejection

Fear is one of the most powerful motivators in our lives. It has the ability to erode relationships and sabotage our happiness if we give into it.

Fear is something we can conquer and take charge of if and when we choose to. It usually takes a good support system but the first step is to get in tune with where the fear really resides.

Our success both professionally and personally is dependent on taking charge of our fears and getting a little uncomfortable!
